The Kettle War

In 1784 a war was declared between the Hapsburg Monarchy and the Dutch Republic. On the 8th of October three Austrian ships attacked a lone Dutch ship. The Dutch ship fired a single shot at the Austrian ships and knocked over a soup kettle. The Austrian ships turned around and fled the scene immediately after. This event is known as the Kettle War because the only casualty was a soup kettle, presumably with all the soup.
